I see you nightly in my dream
And how friendly you can greet,
Loudly crying I rush and scream
Down to your feet, so sweet.

You look at me with melancholy
And shake your small blond head;
In your eyes all I can see
Are tears like pearl drops, instead.

You utter faintly a secret tone
And hand me a bunch of cypress.
I wake up, the bunch has gone,
And the tone, forgotten, I guess.
