You have diamonds and pearls

Für die Liebe!

Text by Heinrich Heine (1797-1856)

You have diamonds and pearls,
You have all what one's heart can desire,
You have the most beautiful eyes-
Sweetheart, to what more do you aspire?

In praise of your beautiful eyes
I wrote poems that do not perish,
An entire fleet of eternal verse-
Sweetheart, what more do you wish?

With those beautiful eyes of yours,
You tormented me, so much indeed,
You have totally ruined my life-
Sweetheart, what more do you need?
