Stable boy! Wake up and saddle fast,
And jump upon your horse,
And race through forest and field,
Towards King Dunkan's castle set your course.

There sneak into the stable and wait,
For the stable boy ; find out for me
Amongst Dunkan's daughters,
Who is the bride to be?

If the boy answers: " It's the brunette ",
So bring me fast this good news.
But if he answers: " It is the blonde "
Not to hurry, you should chose.

Then go to the rope master,
And find a rope he wants to sell,
And ride slowly; do not utter a word,
And bring me back my hell.
